The Worst disaster in Kerala- Can we express our act of kindness and prayer?

Kerala is a state known to be God’s own country. A state with the richness, lush greenery and beautiful natural setting faced the deadly natural disaster that washed away almost everything. Government is estimating 35000 crore loss for now and expects that it can go more. More than 1.2 million people are displaced and close to 500 people have been killed in this catastrophe. Majority of people have  lost almost everything. It is so heartbreaking to see the situation in the news.

From all over India and from abroad people are extending their compassion through cash and kind. Relief work is on and we pray the Rehabilitation work will not be impeded by any hurdles but restore things to normalcy at the earliest.

While I was watching the news, I was caught up with this extreme gesture of compassion by a man who goes down on his knees so that women and children enter the NDRF boat and be saved to a safer place. It was such an act of kindness that can move any heart. In such crisis we are able to see the extreme portrait of kindness, love, compassion, and the ethics of human being displayed so naturally and originally.

This is who we are, God has created us with the expression of love, only such situations remind us of who we are and our identity in God. We cannot predict our life tomorrow but we can choose to live a life that can bring harmony and joy in all of us.

I was also caught up by a comment made by a man in a social network which is so real and emotional. If you notice we are fighting day in day out over religion, race, ethnicity and things that doesn’t matter at all. At the end of the day it is the people who are there to save and help each other.They can come in any form, navy, army, fisherman, police personal, Ngo’s, nevertheless they are mere human beings who are extending a helping hand.

Can we put our differences and be compassionate and loving to someone who needs a helping hand?

Nuts & Bolts- Is it important?

You don't teach morals and ethics and empathy and kindness in the schools. You teach that at home, and children learn by example. Judy Sheindlin

Mechanical engineers and technicians who deal with machinery of any kind, which are complicated, yet would not ignore the small nuts and bolts that keeps things attached to the main body. I would like to remind you of an incident where Emery Worldwide Flight 17 the DC-8 crashed on February 16, 2000 killing all 3 crew members on board. This happened shortly after taking off from Sacramento Mather Airport. 

An investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) revealed an incorrect maintenance procedure, which was implemented by Emery Worldwide, introduced an incorrect torque-loading on the bolts which were supposed to connect the control rod. In simple language the nuts and bolts were loosely fixed to a control rod to the right elevator. Discovery channel televised the crash investigation recently. 

What are the nuts and bolts in your area of function that fixes your whole life, family, work system and your social life? Most of the time it is the money, power, fame that we chase after and when it disappoints us we crash like the Emery worldwide aircraft. These are so temporary and will disappoint us again and again. What is very important like nuts and bolts are the value system, morality, ethics, faith on God.

Honesty, integrity, trust, love and so on, becomes integral to our life then for sure you will not be disappointed even if there are failures. You still gain hope. The source of the ethics, value, faith is from the God almighty alone. Find what God speaks about such values and follow the same to keep your life from crashing.

You are original-No duplicate exists!

Have you ever wondered that out of 7.6 billion people on planet earth you are unique and not reproduced nor cloned? You are completely original. Does that tell you anything? I am sure you want to agree that we are created to live a life of significance. You exist because God wants you to exist.

Most of the time either we philosophize life with too many things or miss to notice the  one with core importance. Let me tell you a story from Sherlock Holmes:

“Detective Sherlock Holmes and his assistant Watson went on a campaign trip on a wood, somewhere in the early hours in the morning Sherlock Holmes woke Watson and asked him can you see the stars up there, Thinking for a while Watson imagined the great detective asking for an explanation said I can see the stars, homologically it means it is quarter past 3, meteorologically it seems that it is going to be a good day tomorrow, astrologically it means that Saturn is within Leo, astronomically it means that there are millions of Stars, theologically it means that the universe is God’s He is big enough and we are small.

Turning to the great detective he asked what do the stars means to you and he said. Oh You fool! It just means that while we were sleeping at night someone stole the tent in which we are sleeping” 

Your life is a gift and an assignment from God. You were born prepacked. God looked at your entire life, determined your assignment and gave you the tools to do the job. Embrace your assignment, this great adventure chosen for you, and press it to the limit.

Life here in the earth is too short to spend with hatred, selfishness, greed, manipulation, dishonesty etc. It not only disturbs and hurts others it will hurt you as an individual. You lose your inner peace and harmony to lead a life with guilt and personal disappointment. Definitely not worth it.

Does life have a purpose?

Life is full of purposes and mission statements if you notice. And we are created and designed to exist with a purpose in life and experience the utmost beauty of nature, family, friendship and most importantly the abundant life, which is the gift of God.

Human beings unlike animal kingdom do not survive merely based on instincts alone but are wonderfully designed with emotion and intellect too, and that gives a reason to appreciate life. 

All thanks to God the almighty for making us so special.  We are positioned to live in a framework that has boundaries to make life fair to live in a community for friendship and build beautiful relationships which makes life worth living.

Let us express our gratitude to oneself, one another and more importantly to God.

Can we take conscious effort to build honest relationship with oneself and with others?   The answer lies within us........
