I am often
curious to understand how success manifests itself and the
general perspective of people towards the same. Let me ask you first, who
doesn't intend to be successful on this earth? Everybody wants to be on the
higher ranks of the society at some point of time in their life, right?
The definitions of success around the globe is ambiguous. Most of the people
would vote for excess wealth and having high purchasing power, some to attain
celebrity status, for some it can mean pleasures to keep their hearts excited
with wine and women and of course there are also people who think success is
helping the marginal sector of our society.
In general,
people want to measure success with PMF index. That defines as to what extent
one has Power, Money and Fame and I wish to
add one more to it, i.e. Fan club. Have you
ever studied the life of a celebrity? Their movements are restricted unlike
a common person, they fear security issues, their lives are in
constant threat of the mob. They are not free people and I would call this
is as success with limited freedom.
“Success”
does not have a saturation point, Have you thought about it? If it does then why would one who is involved
in crimes, making obscene amounts of money and wealth still keep cheating until
he/she is caught and later become fugitives fearing for their life.
People
keep pushing the bar to ascend to the point of infinity and vanity.
Psychologists call it the Success Spiral Syndrome. The Bible warns
people by saying “watch out be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life
does not consist in an abundance of his possessions.”. Success in true essence is in knowing
God and the purpose of one’s life. This is established when someone is
able to develop a close relationship with God and live a guilt free life.
Find a Savior who does both and transform you into a successful person in His
terms. A true genuine relationship with God should also be able to transform us to live a worthful life to oneself and to others.
